Dear Parents,

Are we nearly there yet?!

Another fun packed week.  Thank you to all those who attended the Informal Parents’ Evening.  It gave parents and children the opportunity to meet their new teachers and also look at some of the work they have been doing recently.

Dear Parents,

What a perfect evening we had last night. A huge thank you to all the parents and children that attended our Performing Arts Evening. It was a truly outstanding occasion and the children performed beautifully.  We are extremely proud to have so many talented children here at Churchdown Village School.  It was also lovely to hear the special performance from one of our Reception children.  Many of the children joined in our country dancing alongside their parents which made the evening complete.

Dear Parents,

Well the weeks certainly are not getting any less busy are they?!

The kitchen is almost ready for us to start using it.  The flooring was laid on Tuesday, Thursday  and Friday and looks absolutely lovely.  Mr Partridge has been painting the woodwork and pipes, (I did attempt to help, though not very successfully as my bruised nose will confirm…..no it was not Mr Partridge!)

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a restful half term.  The children have been sharing some of the things they have been doing with their friends and staff.  They used some of their ideas in their writing and art work this week.

Our additional after school clubs have got off to a flying start.  In drama the children were working together on expressing their emotions.  In art the children were drawing circus pictures and in Music Making they were learning about rhythm and making simple raps in time with the rhythms they had created.  There are still a few places left in the Music Making Club.  The After School Club staff has requested that if you are picking up children from these activities that siblings do not use the adventure playground whilst you are waiting.  This causes difficulties for staff when managing children in After School Club.

Dear Parents,

This week the children have been very busy finishing their topic work.  Whilst it has been a short term, I’m sure you can see that the children are all tired as they have worked extremely hard.  As part of the term’s work we have been continuing our Comenius Project, (Our Europe, We Can Make a Difference) and Connecting Classrooms partnership with India.  Children have made lots of leaflets and posters using a variety of media, greeting cards and models from recycled objects, continued the developments in the Forest School area and are currently growing their own plants and vegetables.

Dear Parents,

What a productive week we have had in school!  The children in Year Two have almost reached the end of their performances at the Cheltenham Festival, (one more Prose Class on Sunday).  Well done to everyone involved, for all their hard work.  The results have been outstanding!  Thank you to Mrs Western for all her hard work with the Poetry and Prose children, those that have performed so far have done fantastically well.  Recorders attended the festival today, and were exceptional!  Special congratulations to Tiarna Whitehouse for achieving a silver medal and Maxim Dimkin for his bronze.
