Head Teacher's Newsletter

20.06.14

Dear Parents,

Well the weeks certainly are not getting any less busy are they?!

The kitchen is almost ready for us to start using it.  The flooring was laid on Tuesday, Thursday  and Friday and looks absolutely lovely.  Mr Partridge has been painting the woodwork and pipes, (I did attempt to help, though not very successfully as my bruised nose will confirm…..no it was not Mr Partridge!)

Four of our Year Two boys and girls won the County Championships in Tennis at Oxstall’s on Wednesday.  A huge well done to them!  A photo of the successful children can be found on the school website under ‘News’.

Mrs Western and myself attended a conference in relation to the charity Afghan Connection on Thursday.  We met with Dr Sarah Fane and discussed their priorities for fundraising in the forthcoming year.  She explained what we can do to help raise awareness of the plight of children in Afghanistan and their education.  Starting in September we will work alongside other schools to carry out joint sporting activities, (with a focus on cricket) to raise funds.

On Thursday Mrs Morris came in to perform music for our assembly.  She played a selection of brass instruments and talked about how to blow them properly.  Ethan Morris demonstrated his musical talent by taking part in the presentation.  Well done, Ethan!  Mrs Morris teaches brass lessons at the juniors.  If the Year Two children would like lessons when they start in Year Three in September please contact her by email, (Laura@lama-arts.co.uk).

Next week is Sports Week.  Can all children bring a drinks bottle to school for the week as it is thirsty work doing additional exercise every day.  On Friday at 1.00pm parents are invited to join us for Sports Day on the Junior School field.  Can children wear a coloured T-Shirt that reflects the colour of their House Groups, (blue for Cotswolds, green for Robinswood and red for Malvern).  Can parents also check that their children’s daps still fit please.  Children may bring in trainers for the week if they would prefer.

On Tuesday 24th June there will be a second hand uniform sale for those children going to the juniors.  The sale will take place at 3.00pm in the Junior School hall.

On Thursday 26th June Year Two parents are invited to meet the Year Three teachers at 6.00pm in the Junior School hall.

On Saturday 28th June the Juniors will be holding their summer fete.  It will begin at 11.00am and finish at 3.00pm.  Please join them if you can as it helps raise valuable funds for their school.
Thank you,

Julie Guest
