Head Teacher's Newsletter

16.05.14

Dear Parents,

What a productive week we have had in school!  The children in Year Two have almost reached the end of their performances at the Cheltenham Festival, (one more Prose Class on Sunday).  Well done to everyone involved, for all their hard work.  The results have been outstanding!  Thank you to Mrs Western for all her hard work with the Poetry and Prose children, those that have performed so far have done fantastically well.  Recorders attended the festival today, and were exceptional!  Special congratulations to Tiarna Whitehouse for achieving a silver medal and Maxim Dimkin for his bronze.

The rest of the school have been carrying out termly assessments to see how much has been learned.  This will help set future targets and enable us to report progress made throughout the term.

I have had some parents requesting additional after school club activities as well as the Sports Clubs we already offer.  We hope to be able to offer an Art Club, run by Mrs Mortimer, (our artist in residence) on a Tuesday,  Music Making club, run by Mrs Wakefield, (an accomplished musician) on a Wednesday and Drama Club, run by Mrs Western, (drama teacher extraordinaire) on a Monday.  There will be a small charge of £2.00, for these lessons which will be subsidised by the school.  If you are interested in either of these clubs please let the office know as soon as possible so that we can establish numbers.

The Friends of the School have had some fantastic entries in the colouring competition, well done to those who took part.  The closing date is Monday 19th  May.  All entries and the winners will be on display in the school hall after school on Friday 23rd  May, alongside the cake sale.

We are also thinking about a motto for the school which reflects our school ethos and achievements.  The motto will be displayed at the school gates, on our school headers and our website.  If you and your child/ren would like to contribute your ideas to the development of the motto please send them to me in the school office.  We will, of course, be discussing our ideas together as a school to come up with a high impact, memorable and inspiring motto.

Thank you,

Julie Guest
