Dear Parents,
Dates for your diary:
Literacy Evening, (information on how reading and spelling is taught in school with tips on how to support your child at home) – Thursday 25th September, 7.00-8.00pm
Friends of the School AGM – Thursday 25th September, 6.00-7.00pm in Miss Western’s classroom.
A couple of parents mentioned to Mrs Sellars that they were not able to access the Events List from the school website. The site provider has changed hands and the procedures for uploading documents have changed slightly. This has been rectified and is now available.
It is with excitement that that I can announce that Mrs Newman and Miss Tredgett have come out in sympathy with the Duchess of Cambridge and are having babies. Mrs Wakefield, (a qualified Early Years teacher) will be stepping in to cover for Mrs Newman in her absence. This will offer consistency with the class as Mrs Wakefield already works alongside Mrs Newman. We will be employing a teaching assistant to cover Mrs Wakefield’s role. This is already well in hand and you will be notified in due course.
The Universal Free School Meals scheme is working very well in school. This is largely due to the excellent catering staff and lunchtime supervisors. The hot meals are especially delicious and more children are choosing this as their meal of choice. We would urge all children to opt for the more substantial hot meals as this sets them up for the rest of the day.
As a staff we have been analysing the feedback we have received on the Evaluation Forms following our information evenings. One recurring issue is the time of meetings. 85% of parents were happy with the time, 10% were not and 5% were undecided. Alternative times varied (55% later and 45% earlier). For parents unable to attend meetings the slides are on the website and staff are happy to go through any queries you may have.
Miss Keating has requested that if anyone has an old shed, (in reasonable condition) they are planning to get rid of we will happily take it off your hands for Forest School
Our neighbours in The Avenue have again asked that parents do not park in the road as it is private property.
Kind regards,
Julie Guest
Headteacher
